A Steadfast Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainable living is a Dauphin core value, and we demonstrate our commitment to this value through thoughtful product and process design. Our efforts for greener, more sustainable products and processes include:
- Recycled and Post-Consumer Content. Many Dauphin products contain 35–50% recycled material and are made of recyclable materials. This information can be found on our Environmental Product Declarations, where available.
- Material Innovation. In addition to using FSC-certified lumber, we create wood finishes that look rare or exotic through a process called digital staining.
- Reducing and Eliminating Potentially Harmful Materials.
We are dedicated to using responsible materials in our manufacturing. For instance, we use water-based adhesives that are better for indoor air quality and safer for our manufacturing team.
- Shipping and Packaging. We strive to reduce materials for packaging and fossil fuels needed to ship our products to you. To do this, we have reduced packing volume for some products by up to 60%.
- The Dauphin Takeback Program. Most Dauphin products are fully recyclable. We can help you understand how to easily recycle products in your community, or you can send your products to us as part of our Takeback Program. Products we can repair or refurbish will be refreshed and donated.
Our Certifications
Dauphin products are tested for volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Testing is done randomly with our products via a third-party laboratory. Because of our reduction and elimination of VOCs, we are proudly Clean Air Gold certified, and our products comply with guidelines for programs like Greenguard.
Many of our products also meet BIFMA LEVEL requirements. See individual product pages for more information on individual certifications and awards.
Sustainably sourced wood is critical for our commitment to the environment. All wood we use in manufacturing is FSC certified. FSC-certified wood comes from sustainably sourced forests that have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
